Seasonal & Vacation Week Programs
Blue Hills Ski Area is not responsible if a participant cannot attend a program lesson. If it is necessary for the ski area to reschedule an Explorer, Adventurer, Trailblazer, STEM on the Slopes, 309 Club, and Women’s program lesson we will continue classes without refund until five sessions are held, skipping holiday period dates. Days and times of lessons cannot be changed. Participants must attend scheduled classes.
Seasonal Programs and Vacation Week Programs
Multi-session seasonal lesson programs may be canceled for a 100% credit valid for the remainder of the season in which purchased up until 30 days before the first session/date of the program. There are no cancellations within 30 days.
Blue Hills Ski Area is not responsible for missed classes due to personal reasons. No refunds, credits, or make-ups will be offered for personal absences. Every guest needs an access product (Season Pass OR Seasonal Program Lift Ticket) to access the snow. If you must miss a class due to a personal absence you will forfeit the lesson portion of your program but will retain an all day lift ticket or an all day lift ticket and rental valid until the end of the season, dates of use valid based on program purchase black-out dates apply.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
We are a weather-dependent facility, relying solely on mother nature & our own snow-making capabilities. We reserve the right to cancel/postpone lessons as deemed necessary by management for the safety of our guests and staff. Due to constantly changing weather forecasts, guests are encouraged to verify operations prior to departing for the ski area.
LATE ARRIVAL POLICY
Blue Hills Ski Area is not responsible for late arrivals to class. No refunds, credits, or make-ups will be offered for any missed portions of the class. Should you arrive late, staff will do their best to connect the student with a group- but we cannot guarantee you will be able to meet your original group. If we you are unable to place you with a group, late arrivals will forfeit their lesson. Please do your best to arrive early to ensure you and your student get the most out of their experience.
LEVELS & GROUPING
All participants will complete a pre-level assessment. This may be completed during the pre-season rental fitting with help from our snowsports team or remotely via online form, or verbally with a snowsports team member prior to the start of lessons.
Participants will be pre-leveled into 4 groups, White, Green&White, Green, and Blue based on skill level. Corresponding colored flags will be used to mark the locations where participants will meet their instructors and group each week. On the first program day, instructors will assess students in each larger color group to build smaller groups of similar age and stage of skill development. There will be a range of levels within each group. Participants will remain in their placed groups unless their skills have progressed to the level of the group above them and space allows.
PROGRAM LIFT ACCESS
The Explorer Program (ages 4-6) will be conducted on surface lifts only. Blue Hills Ski Area has three Magic Carpet surface lifts offering a variety of terrain for learning. If a child has advanced experience at this age level, the Snowsports School encourages private lessons for the best experience. All other seasonal programs may be conducted on any available terrain, including Blue Hills Ski Area’s three Magic Carpet surface lifts and/or double chairlift. As a matter of safety, use of any and all lifts or terrain during a lesson is at the discretion of Blue Hills Snowsports School instructors.
Terrain choice is incredibly important when learning and developing skills. Blue Hills Ski Area Snowsports instructors will choose appropriate terrain when teaching for safety, skill development, and enjoyment. Skills that would allow your child to ski with confidence on the most difficult mountain terrain can be introduced, explored, and developed on our surface lift accessed terrain.
INSTRUCTOR CONSISTENCY
Blue Hills Ski Area will make a best effort to ensure instructor consistency; however, we reserve the right to assign all or part of a lesson to an alternate instructor at our discretion (e.g. instances of instructor absence/student ability/class size, etc.)
Helmets
Helmets are required for all youth programming, while they are not included in our rental package, guests have the option to choose to Add on a Rental Helmet or Purchase a helmet during the check out process.
